Lie Down & Listen: Baroque Bliss, Sunday 7 February

Baroque Bliss comes to the medieval church of St Margaret's, home of the National Centre for Early Music in York, this February, led by singer and sound healer Catarina Carvalho with special guest Toby Carr, one of the UK's leading theorbo and lute players.

The blissful Tibetan bowl sound healing and lying down classical concert experience that's been selling out across the UK, Ireland and the US arrives in York with Baroque Bliss.

"Utterly Blissed Out" The Financial Times

Location:
St Margaret's, National Centre for Early Music, Walmgate, York YO1 9TL

St.Margaret's has been holy ground for around a thousand years, and the church's finely carved doorway dates from the end of the 12th century. Since 2000, St Margaret's has been home to the National Centre for Early Music, so the lute and theorbo you'll hear are being played in a place devoted to exactly this music.

What to expect:
Baroque Bliss is a gentle, deeply restful experience of Tibetan bowl sound healing and early music, experienced lying down within the ancient walls of St Margaret's. At its heart are the lute and theorbo of Toby Carr, whose playing The Guardian has called "sensuous and vivid", alongside singer and sound healer Catarina Carvalho, who leads the session.

Catarina's voice and the soothing vibrations of Tibetan bowls will ease you into deep relaxation, before blissful, melancholic baroque melodies and the deep resonances of the theorbo begin to fill the church. As the music washes over you, you'll feel the weight you've been carrying lift, the mind quieten and the heart open.

You'll leave feeling restored, lighter and deeply at peace, warmed through in the heart of winter.

We can't wait to welcome you to this very special Lie Down and Listen.
